Hi! I’m Terri Davis and this is my art blog where I will be sharing my paintings, what inspires me and the stories that evolve around and through my art. Here is where you will find a more personal side of me because my art is, well….my art is more personal.
I have worked as an Interior Designer for the past three decades in the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. Early in my career I was very inspired by an artist who I sold many of his paintings to my clients. I came to find out later he had not started painting until he was retired. I knew then that one day I would paint. For a period of time I did paint on any old box or used furniture that came my way. It is only in recent years that I have focused on honing my skills as a fine artist and continue to grow in that direction. I have discovered that my training as an Interior Designer combined with my intuitive use of color, line and shape has facilitated my natural progression to canvas as artist.
I paint with acrylics in translucent layers and am leaning into using more texture. My paintings are inspired by God’s Majesty and Hope as well as an occasional sense of humor. I am particularly enamored with the beauty of sunsets and sunrises, as well as other delights of nature, and interpret that in an abstract impressionistic manner.
I have found that with each layer of paint added on an art piece, I am often peeling off a layer of myself. My art journey has very much been tied to my own spiritual journey. My painting sessions often evolve into a type of worship where I listen intently to what God has to say to me. I believe my best paintings happen when I can let go and let God take over. I am ever grateful for the opportunity to realize my dream of painting.
I am highly sensitive to color and the way it effects everything in life. My art is an avenue for me to explore color freely that brings me great joy. I believe there is healing power in color and art, not only for the artist who creates but for those who enjoy an artist’s work. Anything that evokes a positive emotion produces a chemical reaction in our body that can be healing and uplifting.
I believe art is the most personal expression in the spaces we live. Although my own inspirations and meanings are woven into my art, I am always fascinated with what someone else may see and interpret. My hope is that you will find your own stories in my art that inspire and reflect your life. I would love to hear your comments here.
Moving forward I am on a mission to receive that Light which is good into my life and radiate that Light back into the world.
