30 Paintings in 30 Days
Twice a year I participate in an event referred to as “30 Paintings in 30 Days” which is a worldwide event hosted by Leslie Saeta. The purpose of the event is to emphasize the importance of artist discipline to paint every day and encourage a rhythm to increase your skills. To complete a painting in one day is a challenge for many and some do adjust the challenge to their personal rhythm. As long as you paint every day, all is good.
In order to keep up with the frantic pace I decided to scale down the size and cost of the canvas and allow myself the freedom to experiment with concepts and just have some fun. I accepted that not every piece would be a masterpiece and was joyful when happy accidents occurred. I find that lifting the barrier of expectations and not overthinking a piece is when I am most pleased with the end result.
To make the challenge a little more interesting, I decided to offer daily paintings on my Facebook page for $30.00!
30 paintings in 30 days for 30 dollars had a certain ring to it.
This limited offer gives anyone interested in my original art a chance to purchase regardless of their budget restrictions. The regular price throughout the year is $75 which is still a value price for original art of this size. Plus, there is free shipping on all Small Art Originals!
We were encouraged to pick a theme for the challenge.
It was a natural for me to pick “hope” since that was my word of the year I have chosen to focus on.
Each week I focused on a certain theme which spoke hope to me.
These were some of my favs and ones my collectors must have liked as well since they all sold.
Several have asked me the significance of the bubbles. They actually have come to symbolize a few things for me. One is the dreams we have for our lives, to reach beyond what is safe and to enjoy the journey whether it comes to fruition or not. Also, it reminds me every day to trust in the Lord, that he will provide whatever is needed for that particular day and not to worry about the future. And third, it reminds me not to forget to have some childlike fun along the way.
Sunsets and sunrises have always given me a sense of hope.
Who can experience God’s majesty and not know
there is an order and overall plan for our lives?
Each day before I started a new painting I decided to pick one bible verse to focus on. My painting is very closely tied in with my spiritual journey and I often use that time as a form of worship. I actually wrote the verse out on the canvas before I started the painting. I prayed that each verse embedded within the layers of the art would bring a blessing of hope to whoever might receive.
So a fun little fact to those who purchased some of this art during the challenge is that there is a special message of hope from me to you.
I really appreciate those of you have shown interest in my art and am so thankful to have the opportunity to pursue what has been a dream of mine for some time.
